Eyes of the World

I read a column posted over on Grateful Dead News the other day that in part brought up Bob Weir's assertion during the whole LMA debacle that a 'community' couldn't exist in Cyberspace:
"The cyber guys can talk all they want about the cyber community, but they can't tell you the color of each other's eyes," he said. "What kind of community is that?"
It got me thinking, we just never told each other what color our eyes are. What an oversight on our part! Well, my eyes are hazel. What color are yours?

(credit to Helen for the idea)

Thanks for the shout out and you're right, my eyes are brown. Love the comment on that original post about every time Bob opens his mouth, etc. I was just saying that to a friend on the phone about 5 minutes ago. Just a little more syncronicity to help the world keep spinning.
Peace.................

I think Bob's just sung "Around & Around" too many times over the decades. On any given day he'll tell you he caused the LMA debacle for reasons legal (copyright issues on the Dead's cover songs), or wait . . . maybe it's financial (putting his kids through college), no scratch that . . . perhaps it's a moral issue (no sense of community in cyberspace). Who knows, and quite frankly -- at this point, Bob -- who cares?

By the way, since despite Bob I definitely want to be a part of this little cyber community you all are creating, my eyes are blue.

Is this a bash Bob Weir thread?

http://www.philzone.com/phil-msg-060105.html
Words of comfort whispered to the injured, words of courage whispered to the scared, words of encouragement whispered to a child, words of love whispered to the sky.

Words have great power; use them wisely.

- PHIL

Man I love Phil. The Grateful Dead spirit is strong with him. He realeased 5 soundboards with cover art of his fall of 2005 tour. Great music you should give it a listen.

Just hoping for a kinder tone. If I'm in the wrong place it's best to know now.

Microdot: You're not in the wrong place -- it's Ben's site and it's full of his kind words; to his immense credit he has even managed to take the high road on the whole LMA episode (much better than I have).

I love Phil too. I even love Bob. But (to use your Phil quote) Bob is not injured, scared, or a child, and when he spouts b.s. and says literally "see ya" to long-time Dead fans that disagree with what happened regarding LMA, I'm going to call him on it.

If you find that unkind, I certainly didn't mean any offense and I hope we can agree to disagree.

No problem Stewart. I'm angry at Bobby as well, but it's more like being mad at family member.

Now Dennis McNally & Bear can go play in traffic.

Heh! Bobby will never grow up. Mine are brownish-black.

This was not meant to be a bash-Bobby post. OK, so there it's a bit sarcastic in nature, but I really do believe that a vibrant Deadhead community does exist here in Cyberspace. So if anything, this should be educational to those who have disagreed with that in the past.

Do we need to know each other's eye color to be a 'community'? Probably not. It's a fun exercise nonetheless. At the very least, we get to learn a little something about each other that we didn't know before.
